Fans of Brong Ahafo United yesterday heaved a sigh of relief when they survived a determined attempt by Bibiani Gold Stars to replace them in the Premier League.
United and Stars played a not too impressive match which ended goalless, but the Brong Ahafo lads managed to find the back of the net four times against the Bibiani side's single conversion to retain their position in the league.
Both teams started the game in a whirlwind fashion but it was United who looked more aggressive with Gold Stars capitalising on the break.
Stars on the break threatened their opponents a couple of times but on each occasion Alex Djanie and Awudu Moro excelled.
Referee Agbeko cautioned Kwasi Boateng of B. A. United for diving in the 43rd minute much to the displeasure of his club officials.
And as the game wore on Ahmed Mohammed nearly gifted a cheap goal to Gold Stars when he struggled to fist a harmless kick by Kofi Agyeman.
With each side determined to play in the premiership they effected a couple of substitutions but it hardly affected the trend of play notwithstanding a red card that was shown Ibrahim Abubakar of Gold Stars for dissent in the 59th minute.
Adu Poku was substituted a minute later after he clashed the Gold Stars goalkeeper in an attempt to score. He was replaced any another former Kotoko player, Kwadwo Owusu.
Owusu's inclusion added a little bite into their play but with their numerical disadvantage in mind, Gold Stars played defensively and cautiously in order not to concede any goal.
A nasty incident however occurred on the stroke of full time when the Assistant Referee One hit a B. A. United technical official with his flag after the former had confronted him.
There was a temporary hold up before a four-minute time added on was played and that resulted in no goals bringing full time scores to 0-0.
Angelo Dedon, Kwasi Boateng, Charles Ampiah and Kwadwo Owusu all converted their penalty kicks for United whereas only Alhassan Issah could convert for Gold Stars with Kofi Anane and Alex Odenkey missing their turns.
Fans of B. A. United and Kumasi Asante Kotoko celebrated in unison after the match chanting "B. A. and Fabulous be ye wedding."
