The ace walker Vincent Asumang of the Ghana National Fire Service and a Bronze medallist at the last All African Games held in South Africa in 1999,has set off to Holland with Ahmed Tijani Sanni of the Ghana Navy on a training tour. The others who made the trip with the two include Benjamin Annan of Cape Coast and Peter Amoah an official of the Visco Walking Club.

The four were able to make the trip with the help of Hans Van der Knaap of Rotterdamse Wandelsport Vereniging, the Visco Walking club, Alitalia airline and Energizer.

They are expected to compete in Holland and Belgium in preparation towards All Africa Games slated for Abuja (Nigeria) in October.

In an interview with Asumang who is leading the contingent he and his men have not tasted any international competition within the year and so it is an opportunity for them to condition themselves towards the All African Games. He added that they would be competing on 26th and 27th July in Belgium at the Binche 20km walk.

According to him this year’s All African Games is going to be of a great deference since He and his team are currently in great shape. He is by this information appealing to the Ghana athletics Association to send more than two walkers technically to bring honour to the Nation. Asumang ended by thanking all those who have contributed to the development of walking in Ghana and called for God’s blessing on their lives.
