Promising Ghanaian forward, Felix Afena-Gyan has tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of AS Roma's clash against Bologna on Wednesday.

AS Roma confirmed in a statement that the Sunyani-born has contracted the deadly virus ahead of tomorrow's fixture.

He has been isolated at his residence in Rome.
“The club can confirm that, following the latest round of molecular testing involving the first-team squad, forward Felix Afena-Gyan has returned a positive test for COVID-19.” the statement reads.

“The relevant health authorities have immediately been informed.

“The player, who has been vaccinated, is doing fine and has now begun isolating at home."

Afena-Gyan has been impressive since making his debut for the Serie A giants. He grabbed the headlines following his brace against Genoa.

He is the first player born in 2003 to score in the Italian top flight and it was only his third appearance for AS Roma

Afena-Gyan was handed a debut call-up to the senior national team of Ghana for the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier against South Africa and Ethiopia but failed to turn up due to sporting reasons.
