The annual Republic Day walk organized by the EL-WAK Keep Fit Club in collaboration with other sister Keep Fit clubs in and around Accra comes off on the 29th of June, 2002. The theme for this year's walk is "WALK AIDS OUT". The walk is aimed at further reinforcing the nation wide campaign against the spread of HIV/AIDS menace.
The walk which begins at the El-wak Stadium at 6.30a.m. will cover a distance of 17 kilometres. The walk will bring together about thirty sister keep fit clubs in the Accra-Tema Metropolis covering areas like 37th Military Hospital, Gold House, Kanda Highway, Ridge, Asylum Down, TUC, Accra Sports Stadium and Osu Oxford Street all in Accra.
The necessary arrangements have been made to ensure the safety and security of all participants. To give the event a national character the organizers are inviting the general public.
There will be refreshments and entertainment at the end of the walk.
