The male and female team of the Elwak Wings volleyball team recorded wins over the weekend as they intensified preparations for an upcoming tournament in Burkina Faso.
The fierce volleyball team will be the only representatives from Ghana for a 10-nation tournament set to be staged in Burkina Faso later this month.
Ahead of the tournament, Elwak Wings have been using the Accra Volleyball League to enhance their preparations.
On Sunday, the female team of Elwak Wings maintained their 100% record in the Volleyball League as they defeated the female team of Navy by three straight sets to make it three consecutive wins since the league commenced.
For the male side, Elwak Wings recovered from a set down to brush aside their counterpart from the Navy team with three wins in the sets that followed.
Speaking to Accra FM on the progress of preparation, Mr. Divine Edem Dotse who is the team manager for Elwak Wings has expressed optimism in the chances of the side enjoying success to ensure they make the nation proud.
“The preparations for the tournament in Burkina Faso have been good so far. We will bring both trophies [for male and female] back home. We have the quality in our team and we will win all the trophies,” he shared while speaking to Jacob Kwabla Aborvor.
Besides host nation Burkina Faso and Ghana, the upcoming continental volleyball tournament will feature teams from Niger, Nigeria, Benin, Cote d'Ivoire, Kenya, Mali, Gambia, and Togo.
