Midfielder Umar Bashiru scored in injury time to earn a vital point for Karela United in the team’s encounter against Ashanti Gold SC that eventually ended 1-1 on Sunday afternoon.

The Anyinase-based club today hosted the Miners at the CAM Park in a game serving as a matchday 18 clash in the ongoing 2020/2021 Ghana Premier League season.

Playing at home, Karela United was tipped to be favourites to win the contest. In the hands of new head coach Romain Folz, Ashanti Gold SC sought to defy those odds and put up an outstanding performance on the afternoon.

For the visiting team’s impressive performance in the first half, they had the lead at the break courtesy of a strike from Seth Osei.

Unfortunately, they could not hold on to the finish line and conceded late in the second half. Midfielder Umar Bashiru’s goal in added time ensured that Karela United earned the draw.

On the matchday, the league’s top scorer Diawisie Taylor missed a penalty that could have handed the home team victory.
