02.09.2020 LISTEN

Willem II Tilburg forward, Kwesi Okyere Wriedt has suffered an injury setback ahead of the start of the 2020/2021 Dutch Eredivisie season.

The Dutch club in a bid to strengthen the squad of their team for the upcoming season secured the services of the Ghana international from German giants Bayern Munich this summer.

In his first match for Willem II, Kwesi Okyere Wriedt found the back of the net in what was a pre-season friendly game against VVV-Venlo last month.

Ahead of the next football season, he is expected to play a key role for his new team where he will be leading the lines.

Unfortunately, during a friendly match against VVCS last Saturday, Kwesi Okyere Wriedt has picked up a broken metatarsal bone injury in his left foot.

Assessment by the medical team of Willem II has revealed that there is no real risk but the striker will need to spend 2 weeks on the sidelines.

The German-born attacker is now racing ahead of time to be fit in time to be able to feature for his club on the opening weekend of the Eredivisie where they are billed to travel to the Abe Lenstra Stadion to take on SC Heerenveen on Saturday, September 12.
