Let there be light
Nkrumah was her oil

Burning midnights in his widow's mite
As Africa struggled and toiled

He encountered the banter
All efforts went foiled

Mother of freedom
His compatriots call him father

Democracy was crippled
Nkrumah gave him legs
Freedom was impossible
Nkrumah thought it first

Travel the world over
It's Africa he belonged

''We are capable, now or never''

Sage and wisdom, Nkrumah meant better

His words never fail
They flourish
Breaking the wings of colonialism
and soon they perish

In the North, South, East and West
At long last, Africa can rest
