NDC-UK Ireland Chapter Supports The Ndc Party Leaderships Decision Not To Allow The National Chairman Mr Samuel Ofosu Ampofo To Honour The CIDs Invitation
10.05.2019 LISTEN

The entire membership of NDC-UK & IRELAND Chapter is very concerned about the deteriorating human rights record in our beloved Ghana under the current NPP administration. Ghana’s human rights record has never been this low since the advent of the fourth Republic.

The CID’s invitation to our NDC National Chairman Samuel Ofosu Ampofo in connection with alleged investigation into the kidnappings, arson and other crimes seem to be well planned, coordinated and executed from the Jubilee House with the intention to intimidate, harass and humiliate Mr Samuel Ampofo and other leading members of NDC. Clearly, this is one of NPP’s grand strategies to intimidate its political opponents and rig the 2020 presidential and parliamentary elections.

We are minded that it is a civil responsibility for the citizenry to assist the police and other security agencies in crime investigations. However, Mr Samuel Ofosu Ampofo is not obliged by any law to assist the police, especially if the CID’s invitation has a semblance of the oppression of political opponents, and scapegoating.

As a political party, NDC cannot afford to allow these baseless and senseless harassments and allegations against our party leaders, especially our national chairman to continue with impunity.

These discriminatory or selective applications of the rule of law; acts of constitutional vandalism, constitutional dictatorship and intimidation tactics by President Akufffo- Bawumia’s led government must be resisted by NDC members and all well-meaning Ghanaians. We must use all legal means at our disposal including what I would describe as “Positive Resistance” and “Positive Defiance”.

The NDC-UK & IRELAND Chapter absolutely supports the party leadership’s decision not to allow the National Chairman Mr Samuel Ofosu Ampofo to honour the bogus invitation from the Director of CID/COP Mamme Tiwah Addo- Danquah whose political affiliation is well known by many Ghanaians. Her credibility, reliability and competency are questionable.

We conclude by urging all NDC members to come out in our numbers to defend and protect our party Chairman Mr Ofosu Ampofo should Nana Addo’s government continue to use the police to harass him.

NDC- UK & Ireland Stands for Mr Ofosu Ampofo

NDC- UK & Ireland Stands for the Rule of Law

Thank you.

Signed :

Alhaji Alhassan Mbalba

Chairman
