Education More Seeded Schools To Be Eliminated Today??
JUN 26, 2018 LISTEN

After Monday’s shocker that saw Aggrey Memorial's exit at the National Science and Maths Quiz's 1/8 stage, the fate of other seeded schools making it through doesn’t seem canonical.

Takoradi Senior High faces the same threat Tuesday morning as they face competition from Labone Senior High and St Margaret Mary Senior High.

Although the odds favour Takoradi SHS – as a seeded school – both Labone and St Margaret Mary SHS come in from the prelims with 28 points each. Not impressive, but in the 2017 contest, it took only four points more than that for Takoradi SHS to secure their seeded position for this year’s contest.

With those statistics in mind, if consistency is anything to go by, then Takoradi SHS should expect to sweat profusely in their quest to keep their seeded spot for the 2019 contest.

Labone by name should be the favourites in this contest but Kumasi SHS Monday evening proved that every contest is different after they beat Aggrey Memorial and giant slayers, Sonrise SHS from Ho. Before that, they only scored 29 points in the prelims and were able to make it through by being among the 18 high-scoring losing schools who qualified to the1/8 stage.

Tuesday morning’s contest should bring some fighting spirits with the envious seeded position to maintain or to gain.

Nifa SHS is another seeded school that should be worried about the opponents they face later on Tuesday. They come up against Krobo Girls SHS who are wounded from losing to Fijai SHS by one point in the prelims, scoring 33 points.

They would be seeking to right those mistakes and secure the quarterfinal spot ahead of Nifa which is seeded and Dzodze Penyi SHS who won their prelims with 39 points.

Nifa exited the 2017 contest after losing to runners up St Thomas Aquinas by two points, scoring 40 points.

All three schools appear to have equal strength with Krobo girls seeking to join the few girls schools who have made it through.

The other contest of the day seems over before the contest with seeded Holy Child School appearing ready to devour their opponents.

It won’t be easy with Akuamuman coming in as victors of their prelim contest with 40 points and Breman Asikuma also coming as winners of their prelims with 31 points.

Holy Child, however, hold a slight edge over them and have the experience of being regular at the national level, but it may just do the trick for them.
