Don't Make Too Many Demands From Your Police Husbands---Wife Of IGP Tells Police Wives

The wife of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mrs. Tina Asante-Apeatu, has advised women married to police officers not to make overly financial demands on them.

They should rather accept to do more to support the family budget to ease the pressure on their men.

She gave the advice at the Ashanti Regional launch of the 30th anniversary of the Police Wives Association (POLWA) in Kumasi.

'Empowering wives to support their husbands to succeed at work' is the theme chosen for the event.

Activities lined up for the week-long celebration include clean-up exercises, health walk and screening, games and a float.

Mrs. Asante-Apeatu encouraged them to acquire employable skills and go into economic ventures to enable earn some money to avoid over-dependence on their partners for everything.

This was important to give their husbands that the peace of mind to properly perform their assigned task.

'Leaving every responsibility to our husbands would impact on their performance at work. There is the need to support them financially and to also create the friendly and peaceful home environment that will help them to fully concentrate on their job.'

She invited the wives of all officers to join the association and made reference to the POLWA Endowment Fund established to complement the police welfare package for those, who lost their partners in the line of duty.

The fund would additionally assist academically brilliant children of serving and retired officers, struggling to pay for their education.

Commissioner of Police (COP) Ken Yeboah, the Regional Commander, asked the members of the association to forge a united strong front and focus on keeping the various police barracks peaceful and clean.
