Agona East NDC executives denied bribery allegation

By GNA

Agona Swedru , Sept 27, GNA - The Agona East Constituency Executive of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) has denied a bribery allegations leveled against them by the MP for the area, Mr Samuel Adu-Yeboah.

They described the allegation as "baseless and unfounded", which could create serious division among the rank and file of the party in the area.

Speaking to the GNA at Agona Swedru, Mr Tetteh Danyo, Constituency Vice Chairman, said it was unfortunate for the MP to allege that the executives collected bribe from Mr Theophilus Maranga before allowing him to file his nomination papers to contest the primary.

He stated that, "it would be proper and honest for the Mr Adu-Yeboah to substantiate the bribery allegation or render an un-qualify apology to the entire executives and members of the party".

Mr Danyo said the executives had resolved not to work with the MP because he did not perform in parliament and at the constituency level, adding that, the MP showed great disrespect towards them and failed to visit the constituency whenever parliament was in recess The Vice Chairman said based on these, a vote of no confidence was passed against him with copies sent to the Office of Flag-bearer, the National Chairman and the Central Regional Executive.

He called on the National Executive Committee to apply the appropriate sanctions against the MP for pasting his posters in the constituency as the party's parliamentary candidate without submitting himself for a primary. Mr Danyo said the National Executives should act swiftly on the matter to avert confusion in the constituency.
