Stemapet committed to providing employable skills - Director

Accra, June 25, GNA - Madam Juliet Kesse, Director of Stemapet Cakes and Floral Institute, has pledged the institute's commitment to inculcating employable skills into its students.

She said skills such as good time management, communication skills as well as the ability to work without supervision were important in the quest for employment.

Madam Kesse said at the Fifth Graduation of Stemapet Cakes and Floral Institute, in Accra at the weekend.

It was on the theme: “The Role of Culinary Institutes in Enhancing the Employable Skills of the Ghanaian Youth”.

She said the institute was established to empower the less privileged and school drop-outs in society to acquire skills that would make them self-reliant.

Madam Kesse noted that the institute had so far trained and currently employed about 50 people, thus contribution to the reduction of unemployment in the country, and urged the graduates to uphold knowledge and skills acquired to improve their living standards.

Miss Otimi Gisele was adjudged the overall best student and best student in sugar craft while Miss Bridget Ashley won the award for floral decor.

Miss Joana Sackey took food and beverage and Miss Tracy Barikisu Okine for pastry.

On exhibition were, cakes, pastries, floral arrangements and food prepared by the graduates. They also recited poems staged cultural dance performances.
