
The New Patriotic Party's (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Asawase constituency in the Kumasi Metropolis of Ashanti, Nana Okyere Tawiah Antwi, has called on the Asokore Mamponghene, Nana Boakye-Ansah Debrah II.
The occasion was the observation of the Akwasidae last Sunday, which coincided with the 25th anniversary of the enstoolment of the chief, as Asokore Mamponghene, who by virtue of his position is the head of the Nifa division of the Kumasi Traditional Council (KTC).
The Asokore Mamponghene advised the parliamentary aspirant to conduct a clean campaign, devoid of insults and also ensure peace in the area.
Nana Boakye Ansah expressed his appreciation to the government for the creation of the Asokore Mampong Municipality and hoped it would help bring development to area.
The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development on October 13, 2011, announced the creation of about 42 new Municipal and district assemblies throughout the country. The chief disclosed that the Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Afari Djan would soon visit the newly created Municipality to do some assessment.
Accompanied by constituency party executives, Nana Antwi thanked the Asokore Mampong chief for his good counsel and assured that he would undertake a clean campaign and subsequently champion the development of the constituency, if he is mandated to represent the interest of constituents in parliament.
