Accra Hearts of Oak beat bitter rivals, Kumasi Asante Kotoko, 1-2 at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday in the topliner of the Glo Premier League and opened a seven point lead at the summit of the League table.

Captain Hassan Mohammed put Hearts ahead on 12 minutes when he popped up to slot in a rebound inside the 18-yard.

Hearts could have double their lead but striker Samuel Affum poor conversion rate kept the score line 1-0 into the break.

The Phobians looked well composed in the second half and on more than one occasion threatened the Kotoko goal area.

The visitors increased the lead after 58 minutes when midfielder Obed Ansah finished-off a counter attack to silence the home crowd.

Substitute Stephen Oduro pulled one back for Kotoko when he finished off a solo run with powerful shot that beat goalkeeper Philemon McCarthy.
