THE KWAME Nkrumah University of Science and Technology(KNUST) branch of the Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has congratulated Professor John Atta Mills for legitimately securing the bid to lead Ghana as President.
In a statement issued in Kumasi by Mr. Bukari Dramani, Publicity Officer on behalf of the Executive Committee, the KNUST chapter of TEIN acknowledged the rough, crooked and bumpy road which Prof. Mills walked to this end, and saluted the President for his courage, resilience, determination and perseverance.
The student body hoped that the President would avail his rich experience to Ghana and work towards the emergency of uniting Ghanaians as one people, for the world to continue to hail our courage and civility.
TEIN expressed its belief in the humility of Prof. Mills and hoped he would foster unity around political, tribal and religious lines to build a unified nation, since underestimating a divided nation is a potential danger for stability and peace currently prevailing in the country.
The student sympathizers of the ruling NDC hoped that beyond seeing a united Ghana, it also expected the President to live by his word and fulfill his promises for a “Better Ghana”, in which they would enjoy a nobler and happier life, and a better Ghana in which Transparency and Accountability would be the guiding principle, for the creation of equal opportunities and wealth.
They also hoped that the policies and programmes of the party would be well implemented to reflect in a transformed social well being of the citizenry, under a the new NDC and President Mills' Better Ghana.
The NDC chapter also congratulated Mr. John Dramani Mahama for rising to become the Vice President, as well as party members and all foot soldiers who worked tirelessly to ensure the sweet victory of the party in the December 2008 polls, and hoped God would grant the leadership of the NDC the wisdom to work and ensure that Ghana continues to reign as a leading light among the Committee of Nations in Africa's renaissance.
