The Ghana Police Service has arrested one suspect in connection with the murder of an Indian national in Kumasi.
The suspect is currently in custody assisting with investigations as police intensify efforts to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The victim, identified as Devendra Singh, was earlier reported missing before police launched a search operation.
In a statement issued on Sunday, April 26, the police said the breakthrough came on April 25, after the victim’s vehicle was found at the outskirts of Sabin Akrofuom near Royal Lemosey Hospital.
Police said officers who inspected the vehicle discovered the lifeless body of the deceased in the boot with multiple stab wounds.
The Ashanti Regional Crime Scene Management Team processed the scene, after which the body was conveyed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.
The police further noted that “the Inspector-General of Police has deployed a special team made up of intelligence officers and homicide investigators to support the Ashanti Regional Police Command in ongoing investigations.”
The vehicle has since been impounded to aid further investigations.
Police have assured the public that all efforts are being made to bring perpetrators to justice and urged the public to volunteer information that may assist the case.
