Senior Political Science lecturer at the University of Ghana, Legon, Prof. Ransford Gyampo has indicated that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) needs to be rescued.

According to him, President Akufo-Addo’s actions have undermined the will of Ghanaians, making it difficult for the party to campaign for the 2024 general elections.

“There are no bold men and women of conviction to tell NADAA that, by his surreptitious acts to undermine the General will of Ghanaians, he’s making it difficult for his party to campaign in the 2024 Elections. NPP must be rescued,” Prof. Ransford Gyampo said in a post on Facebook.

In another post, Prof. Ransford Gyampo said President Akufo-Addo should know that the power of the people is stronger than that of the people in power.

According to him, he is surprised that this elementary truism has eluded the President.

“The power of the people should be stronger than the people in power. This is an elementary democratic truism that strangely, is eluding a person in the persona of NADAA. Even Rawlings who noted his dislike for democracy knew this,” the Political Science lecturer said.

This comes after the President’s Secretary, Asante Bediatuo wrote to Parliament to caution the Clerk of the House against transmitting the anti-LGBTQ+ bill to President Akufo-Addo.
