Ghanaian activist, Oliver Barker Vormawor has slammed people who are ridiculing the promise made by independent presidential candidate, Nana Kwame Bediako, affectionately known as Cheddar to dredge the sea to Kumasi.

He says the idea only appears impossible to the critics because it did not originate from the two leading political parties—the NPP and the NDC.

According to the vocal activists, the same people would have been defending the promise just as the NDC is doing with former President John Mahama’s 24-hour economy policy.

“The only problem with Cheddar’s Sea Extension Project is that it wasn’t announced by NPP or NDC.

“You people would have been here defending it; as you defend the gyimie we hear 24/7; just because it’s your party. You people with no shame,” he wrote via X on Wednesday, March 20.

Meanwhile, the New Force leader explained the promise as part of his ambition to open up Ghana’s Eastern and Western Corridors to facilitate trade.

Speaking in an interview on Kumasi-based Abusua FM, Nana Kwame Bediako cited Dubai, a typical desert which now has a sea to show that it is doable.

“I have travelled far and wide. I have seen many countries do that. Even Dubai which was a typical desert now has the sea. That is the kind of vision I have for the Ashanti Region. When we dredge the sea to the region, ships can dock in Kumasi,” he explained.
