Ghana International Trade Fair launches with focus on e-commerce for SME growth

The 28th edition of the Ghana International Trade Fair has kicked off in Accra under the theme "E-commerce; Key to SME Growth for Development."

Running from March 1 to 7, 2024, at the WestHills Mall, the event features over 50 vendors from Ghana and Nigeria, emphasizing sustainable marketing platforms for businesses.

Highlighting the importance of digital marketing trends, the fair aims to positively impact Ghana's economy by establishing an e-commerce platform.

Dr. Agnes Adu, CEO of Ghana Trade Fair Company Limited, expressed, "All around the world, we know that shopping online is an actual business. It is a way to allow businesses to tap into and grow. If you think back to the pandemic, when the whole world had stopped, it was online business that was booming. And it gave us the platform to surge."

Dr. Adu further disclosed, "The Ghana Trade Fair has developed a permanent application and website which would serve as a one-stop online hub for all businesses and also to get your made-in-Ghana products. So if it is produced here or made here, you can get it on that website and app and it's also a way of supporting small businesses as well."

She added, "The name of the app is Ghana Unlimited, and we will unveil it by June so everybody can get their businesses running successfully."

Expressing gratitude to vendors and sponsors, Dr. Adu urged Ghanaians to leverage the opportunity to buy locally-made products.

Notable entities like Ghana Cocobod, Nigeria Export Promotion Council, and Zenith Bank participated, showcasing their offerings.

Several vendors encouraged Ghanaians to support local products during the month of Ghana, ensuring affordability and quality. The fair is poised to contribute significantly to SME growth through the integration of e-commerce into the country's business landscape.
