Galamsey fight: Akufo-Addo knows the kingpins — Inusah Fuseini

Former Member of Parliament for Tamale Central, Inusah Fuseini, has alleged that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo knows the big guys engaging in illegal mining yet pretending to fight the menace.

Speaking on NEAT FM’s ‘Ghana Montie’ morning show, Mr Fuseini claimed that identifying the key figures involved in illegal mining, commonly known as 'galamsey,' is not a challenging task, asserting that even President Akufo-Addo is well aware of the individuals engaging in the act.

“It is not difficult to identify them. Even Nana Akufo-Addo knows the kingpins,” Inusah Fuseini said during the interview.

Expressing dissatisfaction with the widespread environmental damage caused by illegal mining, especially to major water bodies, Mr. Fuseini expressed concern about the potential long-term consequences, asserting that the coming generations would bear the negative impact if the government do not address the issue seriously.

“It is about time we collectively fight against this for the next generation,” he remarked.

Mr Fuseini further criticized government's approach to tackling illegal mining, suggesting that the methods employed indicate a lack of genuine determination to eradicate the menace.
