First-time candidate Akosua Manu has expressed gratitude to delegates after being elected as the New Patriotic Party's parliamentary candidate for Adentan.

In a post on social media following her victory, Manu said: "I asked for your support and your trust. You have offered me more than enough."

Akosua Manu, popularly known as Kozie, polled 814 votes to defeat her closest contender Kwasi Obeng Fosu who garnered 638 votes in the keenly contested election.

The Deputy CEO of the Ghana National Youth Authority will represent the NPP in the 2024 general election as the party's candidate for the Adentan seat.

In her appreciation message, Manu said she was encouraged by the campaign of her contenders and their efforts. She called for unity in the party going forward.

"I urge all to be magnanimous in victory so we can focus on uniting the party ahead of 2024," the quote reads.

Akosua Manu's victory puts her in pole position to retain the seat for the NPP, which is currently being held by the NDC’s incumbent MP Mohammed Adamu Ramadan.
