The Member of Parliament (MP) for Garu, Albert Alalzuuga Akuka, and MP for Tempane, Lydia Akanvariba Adakudugu have issued a joint press release on the operation conducted by the National Security and the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) in their respective Constituencies.

The Ministry of National Security and the Ghana Armed Forces, on Saturday, October 28, conducted a joint operation in Garu to seize weapons used by perpetrators in the attack on some National Security personnel.

The operation resulted in the brutalisation of many residents with several others arrested.

The joint operation was conducted on the back of an attack by an irate youth group on some National Security personnel on Tuesday, October 24.

In their statement, the MPs for Garu and Tempane have expressed their displeasure, insisting that the brutalities meted out to the innocent citizens in their Constituencies are uncalled for.

In the joint statement, Albert Alalzuuga Akuka and Lydia Akanvariba Adakudugu called for the immediate withdrawal of the military from Garu and Tempane.

“The Military should be withdrawn from the Garu and Tempane Constituencies.

“The lawlessness and brutalities inflicted on innocent citizens should stop,” parts of the joint release from Albert Alalzuuga Akuka and Lydia Akanvariba Adakudugu said.

Meanwhile, the MPs for Garu and Tempane also demand that those injured during the military disturbances should be taken care off and compensated by the Government/Ministry of Defence.
