Politics 2024: Bawumia will scatter Mahama's vote especially in the North — Obiri Boahen
SEP 21, 2023 LISTEN

Nana Obiri Boahen of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has asked Ghanaians especially delegates in the party not to see the party as an 'Akans' property.

He fears the party may lose more parliamentary seats in the Bono Region to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the upcoming general elections if Dr. Bawumia does not become flag bearer.

According to the former Bono Ahafo Regional Chairman, it will also be difficult for NPP to snatch the Jaman South and the Jaman North parliamentary seats should nothing be done to fix the poor road networks there.

"Let me be blunt and truthful, the poor road network from Sunyani to Japkrom to Drobo to Sampa can cause us to lose the seat. I have not come across such an unmotorable road before and I think if NPP wants to win elections we must as a matter of urgency fix the people's roads for them," Nana Obiri Boahen pointed out on Sampa-based Gye Nyame FM.

The outspoken private legal practitioner ahead of the NPP's presidential primaries spent five days in the region to campaign for the Vice President, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia.

According to the staunch supporter of Dr. Bawumia's presidential bid, it is time for the party to unite and bring non-Akan to face NDC's John Dramani Mahama.

"2024 is going to be interesting for Dr. Bawumia. If Bawumia becomes our flag bearer, it will be easy for us to get more votes from the North," Nana Obiri Boahen stated.
