NPP will reject Adwoa Safo's apology — Obiri Boahen

A leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Obiri Boahen is asking the party to reject the Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo's apology rendered to the leadership of the party and by extension to Ghanaians.

According to Nana Obiri Boahen, the MP has no respect for the President, Ghanaians, and the entire NPP.

"If you ask me, Adwoa Safo didn't deal with the party well in the first place. She disrespected the President, the party, and every Ghanaian. I'll employ the party leadership to reject her apology," the outspoken private legal practitioner spoke on Wontumi TV.

He added, "She has brought shame to herself and constituents of Dome-Kwabenya."

Sarah Adwoa Safo was absent from her post for over a year after traveling to the United States. She was dragged to the Privileges Committee of Parliament in 2022 where some MPs called for her seat to be declared vacant.

Since her return to the country, she is now asking for forgiveness.

“I would like to use this opportunity to apologize to my New Patriotic Party members, the leadership. Firstly to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the Vice PreDr.dent, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, our mother, the Chief of Staff Hon. Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, Majority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah Bonsu, and the entire leadership of Parliament, my colleague MPs, the Majority caucus.

“I would like to apologize to all of you for your behavior sometime back. I would like to say that it wasn’t intended or planned to disrespect you all.

“I was faced with so many personal and family issues. I would like to plead with you in the name of the Lord, my regional executives, Greater Accra, constituency executives, the headquarters of NPP, the General Secretary and National Chairman and all your workers. I beg all of you, supporters, and sympathisers, who love the party and loved me and have faith in the constituency, please forgive me for all that has happened," she stated.
