Kwabena Owusu Sekyere, the Ahafo Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has lauded the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, asserting that he is the most outstanding IGP Ghana has had in many years.

According to Sekyere, Dr. Dampare's leadership has brought about noticeable improvements in the operations and public confidence within the Ghana Police Service.

Sekyere called for an end to criticism and backstabbing of individuals who are making significant contributions to the country.

He highlighted that Dr. Dampare's positive impact on the police service is evident and should be recognized by all Ghanaians.

Speaking in an interview on Kumasi-based Angel FM on Friday, September 15, 2023 he said, "Let’s stop stabbing hardworking people in the back. What this man is doing is obvious for every Ghanaian to see.

“Even if you don’t like him, you can tell that the police service is much better under him. Because we are so used to doing wrong, we can’t accept people who are transformational."

“It’s sad to have a journalist like Paul Adom Otchere attack such a man whose work is so clear to all; it’s not fair," Sekyere emphasized.

He also acknowledged the role of past Inspector Generals of Police, highlighting that each had contributed their part and left their mark.

However, Sekyere firmly believed that Dr. Dampare's leadership had brought about significant changes, increased visibility, and enhanced public confidence in the police service, making him the best IGP Ghana has seen in many years.

"In my region, I see police officers on motorbikes everywhere you pass, and we are allowing a few jealous individuals to destroy such a person. That is not right, and we must speak up," Sekyere stated.
