We Must Watch What We Eat Outside. It's Healthy People That Make A Healthy Nation.

A closer look at the photo below this write-up reveals a lady who is sitting on a refuse dump while cooking food. At first, I thought she was insane, as such, just trying to put something together and eat. We all know it's only divinity that can explain how mentally unbalanced people and children are protected in society. For what any of these two groups of people will eat and go without any sickness, a sane person or an adult will eat it and fall sick immediately. Therefore, I least expected that a normal person could sit conspicuously in a pigpen and cook food not even eat, but sell it to the general public.

However, what made my curiosity multiply was when I saw another lady bring a bigger container to collect part of the food that was being cooked. Immediately I saw that; I decided to become an investigative journalist at once. I first took a snapshot of the one that was stirring the TZ. And guess what! I did it from afar because I realised pointing my phone at her and doing that closer was risky because; I could get her throwing the hot TZ at me or maybe being aware something was going on which could prompt her to discontinue what she was doing. So I hid and snapped her at a distance and that explains why the picture looks smaller and fuzzy.

After I took the picture, I pretended I was going my own way while from time to time I paused, fidgeted with my phone as if I was searching for a number to call, and glanced at my back for the drama that was about to unfold. The lady was cooking at the back of what looked like a magazine (the place where cars are repaired ). And in the front and closer to the Kasoa-Winneba major road, specifically, the area called "Yoomart", where other provisional shops and cars were scattered around the vicinity, I saw a well-prepared table set up and other hot meals were already being served there to many unsuspected customers by the other lady; who earlier came out with the bigger container to collect part of the TZ.

I, first of all, felt like throwing up all that I had consumed that day because I just bought some Waakye not too far away from the same area where my eyes met this horrible incident that morning. But I held my fire for a while just to make sure I wasn't going to eat the same kind of refuse dump-cooked food. I asked someone if he knew where those ladies lived and he told me they lived in one of the shops. They have no place called home much less a kitchen to do their cooking. That confused me but also confirmed my fear that they were feeding unwholesome meals to the general public which; for me, was dangerous taking the swift spread of any communicable disease in such situations into consideration.

Why do we do these things and when there is an outbreak of an epidemic, then the government is compelled to handle a situation that our negligence caused? Don't we know simple personal hygiene can save the country a lot of bills paid for our health care system? But it's not only these people who might be doing this. I believe in the bigger cities, this act of unhealthy cooking and feeding the general public unwholesome meals is pervasive. I would therefore wish to echo the need for regular monitoring of our food vendors by those who are in charge. The authorities, who are mandated to ensure people keep our environment clean and cook hygienically to serve the general public must therefore sit up and make sure the right thing is done. After all, that's what they are paid monthly to do.

If we sit aloof and allow this thing to go on, very soon there will be a national disaster just as we saw when COVID took us by surprise. The unhygienic cooking of food and selling it to the public can cause a national health disaster. So, there is a need for us to curb it now before we come to explain and bemoan any unforeseen eventuality.
