The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has called on the general public to note that it is continuing with its exercise of ridding the capital city of all illegal structures, especially kiosks and container shops.

It stated that nearly 200 of such structures were destroyed in a lane near the Accra Workers College recently.

This was disclosed in a press release issued by the public relations department over the weekend.

The AMA warned owners with such structures at the Tetteh Quarshie Roundabout area; along Lagos road in East Legon residential area up to the Institute of Professional Studies (IPS) and the length of the Tetteh Quarshie Roundabout-Legon-IPS junction road, to remove their structures with immediate effect since refusal to do so would lead to their structures being destroyed.

All illegal structures, according to the release, would be destroyed or removed and owners surcharged with the cost of removal, the release added.
