About Otumfuo Education Fund
In 1999, His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, established the Otumfuo Education Fund to support brilliant but needy students to pursue their education.

The establishment of the Otumfuo Education Fund was necessitated by the abolishment of the academic user fees at the tertiary institutions by the government of Ghana.

Otumfuo the Asantehene indicated at the time of the establishment of the Fund that there was the need for communities to mobilize to support needy children with potentials whose dream maybe squashed due to the inability to obtain the needed support to pursue their educational dreams.

His Royal Majesty reiterated that his vision for Asanteman was to fight a different war than what the Kingdom was noted for in the past and this was a war against killing the dreams and potentials of bright but needy students.

Otumfuo the Asantehene therefore rekindled the communal spirit of Asantes and Ghanaians through the Otumfuo Education Fund to donate and help support bright but needy students to achieve their potentials with the sole aim of developing the needed skills for the development of communities and Ghana.

His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene’s vision has produced great personalities who are helping to promote democracy and development of Ghana in diverse ways.

Notable among the many beneficiaries of the Otumfuo Education Fund Ohio University scholarship are Dr. Bossman Asare, Vice Chairperson of Ghana Electoral Commission (EC) and Dr. Kingsley Antwi Boasiako, Director of Public Relations at Ghana Ports and Harbor.
