JUL 14, 2022 LISTEN

At the ongoing five days Cabinet Retreat in Ganta, the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has scored high marks in a governance performance Pro-poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development (PAPD) score card.

The PAPD score card is a performance summary document that tracks Ministries, Agencies, Corporations and State-owned Enterprises (MACs) implementation and alignment of the Pro-poor Agenda for Development and Prosperity.

PAPD is a five-year (2018 - 2023) policy document that aims at strengthening Liberian capacity to thrive; and drawing all Liberians living at home and abroad into the national development process. The PAPD is addressing the basic needs of Liberians for income security, better access to basic services, and greater opportunities for self-improvement in an enabling environment that is inclusive and stable. It is hinged on four pillars: Power to the People; Economy and Jobs; Sustaining the Peace, and Governance and Transparency.

The PAPD governance and performance score card synchronizes MACs into Education, Health, Social Protection, Infrastructure, Sustained Economic Growth, Energy & Environment, Agriculture & Forestry, Security, Reducing Corruption and Building a More Capable State. The performance score card graded MACs based on the following: Ownership in the PAPD governance; Strategic plans alignment to PAPD framework; Donor projects coordinated within PAPD framework; Domestic projects/interventions alignment with PAPD indicators, and PAPD reporting.

Under the Social Protection Sector, the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection outstandingly performed - passing all six indicators with excellent marks in three of the six.

Expressing delight, Gender, Children and Social Protection Minister Williametta E. Saydee-Tarr thanked the hard working staff of the Ministry for the outstanding performance the ministry recorded.

She also lauded national and international partners for the continuous coordination and support the Ministry continue to receive over the years.
