Tamale, April 16, – Concerned Youth Groups of New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Tamale has appealed to President Nana Akufo-Addo to reconsider the dismissal of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Northern Development Authority (NDA), and bring him back to office to continue his good works.

The group has also called on the President to dissolve the Governing Board of the NDA because it was not working in the interest of the NDA.

Mr Mohammmed Abdul Manan, Assistant Secretary of the Concerned Youth Groups of NPP, who made the appeal at a press conference held in Tamale by the group, said the immediate past CEO of the NDA, Dr Alhassan Sulemana Anamzoya was not fairly treated hence their appeal.

He alleged that Dr Anamzoya refused to kowtow to pressures from some powerful persons to award contracts to their companies and cronies, a situation, which angered those powerful persons to engineer his dismissal.

Dr Anamzoya was appointed in December, 2019 but was removed from office about three weeks ago.

A Board Member of the NDA is now serving as the Acting CEO of the NDA.

Mr Manan said during his short stay in office, Dr Anamzoya performed creditably and ensured that the Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication Programme was executed in all constituencies within the NDA’s catchment area.

He said the dismissal of Dr Anamzoya meant that Northern Region was not represented on the Governing Board of the NDA, which was unfair to the region.

He emphasised that “This is unfair treatment to Northern Region. We have well-educated chiefs and other equally well educated personalities, who are more than qualified to be part of the Board.”

The NDA was established as a vehicle to amongst others receive one million dollars per constituency in the five regions in the north and use it to implement projects in all the constituencies in the area to accelerate development.
