Foh-Amoaning Is Not Worth Breaking-News Media Attention

The very laudable decision by the Association of African Albinos (AAA) to expel Mr. Moses Foh-Amoaning from its general and executive membership took rather too long in coming, and one wonders whether the leadership of the AAA was not already aware of the fact that the renowned Ghanaian lawyer’s establishment of the so-called National Coalition for Proper Human Sexual Rights and Family Values was in of itself a gross violation of the fundamental democratic rights of global humanity (See “Moses Foh-Amoaning Sacked from Association of African Albinos over His Anti-LGBTQI Campaign” Modernghana.com 2/24/21). It is also crystal clear that the Ghana Law School lecturer, if I have the latter fact accurately noted, is of the same carcinogenic breed as the just democratically ousted Republican Party President of the United States of America, namely, Mr. Donald John Trump.

In the recent past, I have recommended that Mr. Foh-Amoaning be sequestered, as a matter of urgency, from the general Ghanaian population and critically examined for any serious psychological traumas and defects that he may very well be suffering as a result of genetic and clinical albinism and the negative social pressure and downright disdain and stigma that may be attendant to the same. The subject of this column, it is equally significant to note, has in the past curiously acknowledged that his being born an albino was an egregious and heinous moral defect for which he had been fervidly seeking forgiveness from Divine Providence. Now, it goes without saying that this is the self-destructive mindset of a man who ought not to be standing in front and instructing our future leaders and civil and public service professionals in any reputable public education establishment in the country, much less be permitted to serve as the Executive-Secretary of an organization that preaches and self-righteously propagates Fascist and Neo-Nazi ideologies.

His summary expulsion from the Association of African Albinos should only be the very first step towards the total prohibition of the National Coalition for Proper Human Sexual Rights and Family Values, which this Oxbridge-educated weirdo reportedly heads. To be certain, the very imposition of any form of sexuality or sexual behavior on any group or community of humans innately averse to the same, inexcusably violates the democratic principles that undergird or subtend any civilized democratic society.

In the press release announcing his immediate expulsion of Mr. Foh-Amoaning from the AAA, the President of the association, Mr. V. F. Sesom Hofman, or Hoffman, various news reports spelt the last name of the AAA’s President variedly, critically observed that rather than so crassly, unwisely and criminally use his personal resources and the local branch of the association’s resources to constructively promote the interests and the fundamental human rights of all cultural and ethnic minorities, Mr. Foh-Amoaning rather bizarrely appeared to have chosen a cause and a course that was likely to seriously hurt the interests and well-being of a larger group and multidimensional category of humans of which Mr. Foh-Amoaning was a highly privileged and prominent member. Implicitly, Mr. Hofman also observed that Mr. Foh-Amoaning well appeared to be pumped up on a politically suicidal mission.

Interestingly, a modicum of confusion seems to have arisen in the organized albino community in Ghana, with an organization calling itself the Ghana Association of Persons with Albinism (GAPA) distancing itself from the statement issued by the President of the Association of African Albinos, on grounds that GAPA is not even affiliated with AAA. Instead, the leadership of GAPA claims to belong to a separate Continental African organization called the African Union of Persons with Albinism (AUPA). The preceding notwithstanding, one thing that has emerged from this imbroglio is the fact that absolutely no prominent member of the albino community is supportive of the abjectly hostile stance predictably taken by Mr. Foh-Amoaning towards the local Ghanaian LGBTQI community. The leaderships of the various albinism-oriented establishments and associations have issued unreserved apologies to the members of the LGBTQI community in Ghana, and also vehemently dissociated themselves from the anti-gay and lesbian remarks attributed to the renowned Ghanaian legal practitioner.

The foregoing clearly signals the very refreshing fact that the official battle to thoroughly and definitively silence the members of the LGBTQI community may very well be far from over, and may, perhaps, never succeed in stifling democratic justice and equality in postcolonial Ghanaian society.
