Uber Ghana Reward 2 Deserving Drivers With Brand New Cars

Two deserving drivers of Uber Ghana have seen their lives changed today after being handed brand new cars as a reward for their hard work and excellent service.

Last year during the ‘Year of Return’ period, Uber Ghana started a promo for its drivers which sought to reward top-performing drivers.

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, a planned grand conclusion to the promo had to be delayed till today, Friday, October 30.

At a ceremony at Uber Ghana’s head office in Kanda, Accra, Joseph Mantey and Winsome Tetteh Anim have gone home with respective brand new cars.

For his prize as the first place winner of the promo, Joseph Mantey who has been driving Uber for the past 3 years received a 2020 Suzuki Dzire car.

Speaking to Modernghana News on the sidelines of the presentation, Joseph Mantey almost shed tears as he stressed that it is going to change his life.

According to him, he has been doing 'work and pay' but with the new car, he can now be his own boss to take his Uber business to the next level.

“Uber has helped me a lot in terms of education, the public too has been really supportive, it hasn’t been easy though but it has been so good.

“I never thought of this, from zero to hero. I was driving a 2008 Vitz and am now going to drive a 2020 Suzuki. It is so amazing”, an emotional Joseph Mantey noted.

In extending his profound appreciation to Uber Ghana, he also thanked his customers for riding with him and giving him 5-star ratings after his service.

For Mrs Jessica Poku who is Country Manager for Uber Ghana, the drivers have been exceptional in delivering their service and deserve the rewards they have received today and throughout the promo period.

She added, “We believe that recognizing them is also a way to motivate other drivers and boost morale especially following everything that has happened this year [Covid-19]”.

According to Mrs Jessica Poku, the financial well-being of drivers is the priority of Uber Ghana so they believe empowering the driver with his own vehicle gives him the opportunity to earn more.

Meanwhile, Uber Ghana and Vodafone Ghana are continuing their partnership which allows drivers and customers to use the App without any data charge.
