Middle East Appeal For United Nations' Intervention In The Gulf Crisis
AUG 11, 2020 LISTEN

The Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Foundation (STBHF) has received credible information about a dangerous agenda on the board to misrepresent Qatar’s ongoing humanitarian aid to the people of Lebanon after the devastating explosion in Beirut, which has killed over 160 people, injured over 5, 000 and made more than half a million people homeless. This explosion was preventable as reports on the scene indicate.

The place of the explosion is Beirut’s Water Quay, which provides a route for food and other essential goods entering into Lebanon. Besides the rise in hunger, there is a greater risk to health due to the cancer-causing chemicals that were released into the air, and insufficient hospitals and health centers to treat the injured.

It is too sad, that this horrendous event comes at a time when Lebanon finds itself in a deep economic mess, coupled by the fast-spreading deadly Covod-19 virus pandemic. This worsening economic situation was heightened by the criminal wars in Syria, Iraq and Yemen, and the military reign of terror in Egypt.

Despite these despicable wounds that have been inflicted on the Lebanese people, it appears there are countries that are bent on hindering the ongoing humanitarian assistance and service to Lebanon.

Information at our disposal reveals that the blockading countries of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates and Egypt held a secret meeting of top security and intelligence units in Egypt over the weekend to access what they called Qatar’s role in Lebanon.

It is believed that the blockading countries are about to launch a demonic campaign of misinformation and disinformation, in their desperate attempts to misconstrue Qatar’s leading role in the humanitarian service and assistance to Lebanon, which the blockading countries already assumed to be a front for the Hezbollah group.

While we join the whole world in mourning as we remember all those who succumbed, as well as praying for the quick recovery of the injured, we condemn any attempts by the blockading powers, to discredit Qatar’s selfless humanitarian service to Lebanon as absurd, malicious and careless assumption.

Unless the blockading countries want the international community to believe that they are implementing a pro-Zionist policy in the cruelest way, there is just no moral language to justify any attempts to equate Qatar with acts of terrorism. We believe the blockading countries are being used by foreign powers to rehears the Israeli diplomat, Ron Prosor ’s aggressive rhetoric against Qatar.

Time and again, the competent authorities in Doha have made it sufficiently clear that Qatar does not and has never had links with any terrorist outfits, and has never allowed itself to be lured in any criminal activities, much less terrorist activities elsewhere. We want to place it on record that Qatar has nothing to do with terrorist outfits, that its selfless role and sacrifices for others have been acknowledged by the international community.

The Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Foundation (STBHF) rejects this criminal behavior whereby the blockading countries are trying to divert domestic attention, and we ask those countries to rather reflect on their anti-Qatari policy and aggressive rhetoric and their activities, including their genocide campaign against the civilian population of Yemen, as well as the unjust and illegal blockade against Qatar.

Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Foundation (STBHF) believes the blockading countries deceptive and rehearsed allegations against Qatar, not substantiated by evidence are tailored and clinically executed to mislead international public opinion.

The blockading countries are jealous because Qatar is the most educated Arab nation in the Gulf region with the most talented and courageous, generous and kindliest of leadership blessed by God.

Three years have passed since the blockading countries decided to blockade Qatar from dealing with the outside world. The purpose of the blockade, from credible intelligence sources was to effect regime change in Doha and to subject the Qatari people to misery, suffering and economic ruins.

The Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Foundation (STBHF) emphatically condemns any despicable act, and will continue to work in that direction in its strenuous efforts to advocate for an end to the blockade against Qatar, and in denouncing the genocide campaign against the people of Yemen.

We share in the responsibility of advocacy with governments and those in authority to find peaceful solutions to complex and volatile conflicts. We recognize the immense practical efforts of Qatar in Lebanon.

Having stated the above, the Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Foundation (STBHF) Calls on the United Nations Security Council and Secretary-General of the world body, António Guterres to consider the blockade against Qatar as an assault on world peace, security and development. The people of Qatar deserve to live in peace to develop their lives and their country.

Moreover, the Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Foundation (STBHF) appeals for the United Nations to adopt a firm and principled stance against the criminal blockade against Qatar, and attempts by the blockading countries to overthrow the legitimate government of the blessed Emir, His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani.

The Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Foundation (STBHF) is committed to the vision of a just peace for all people of the world. We therefore share in the sorrow of those in Beirut, of all the people of Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, and throughout the Middle-east region.

The United Nations must not be complicit – by inaction or inadequate reaction – in the unjust, illegal and criminal blockade against Qatar.
