In the aftermath of the successful conclusion of the 34th edition of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament, the draw for the preliminary round of the next iteration, slated to be held in Morocco, was officially held at the CAF Headquarters in Cairo, Egypt on Tuesday, 20 February.
The upcoming TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 qualifiers will feature a total of 52 nations vying for glory.
For the preliminary stage of the qualifiers, eight (8) lowest-ranked nations according to the FIFA Rankings will square off in a home-and-away knockout format, with the four (4) triumphant teams earning the right to enter the group stages of the qualifiers, where 44 nations are already lined up.
During this phase, the four lowest-ranked nations will play the first leg at home, with the return leg hosted by the higher-ranked opponent.
All the qualifying matches are scheduled to be played during the next FIFA International Break, running between 20 and 26 March 2024.
