Get Used To Moving Outside Your Comfort Zone

We all have our individual comfort zones. Your comfort zone is a place or situation that is always familiar to you- same job, same friends, same places you visit, same experiences etc. It is a territory where you feel safe and secure.
I can tell you without any shadow of doubt that your comfort zone is a recipe for a mediocre life. As a human being you need to explore, you need to stretch and strive and achieve worthwhile goals. You cannot live to fulfill your destiny and achieve a richer fuller life by remaining in your comfort zone.
Don’t get imprisoned by your comfort zone. You must form the habit of stepping outside of it if you are to become successful and live a fulfilling satisfying life.
Most people would not step outside their comfort zone because of fear that they would fail and be embarrassed. They don’t want to look awkward in the eyes of others. They may feel they are not good enough. They have a low opinion of themselves that keeps them stuck in their comfort zones. They live a life of quiet desperation.
You have to be a bit brave and step out of your comfort zone in order to gain new insights and experiences. Moving outside your comfort zone makes you feel good about yourself. You feel confident that you can take your life to the proverbial higher levels.
You have the power to change your life if you don’t feel comfortable with it. You have to learn from successful people. They too encountered fear but nevertheless took risks to accomplish their goals.
As Jack Canfield famously said: Success is on the other side of fear. You must rise above your problems and achieve the kind of life you want.
The question now is: How do you go about stepping outside of your comfort zone? Here are a few tweaks that can help.
First take stock of your life. What accomplishments have you made that you can be proud of? What do you want out of life? What changes do you have to make to improve your life? Are you a talented person? What do you do effortlessly? What are your core values and beliefs? What is your burning, unquenchable desire? What are your goals?
Your burning desire to achieve worthwhile goals should motivate you to step outside your comfort zone. The next step is to plan how to reach the goal you have set for yourself. Ideas are by themselves worthless unless they are acted upon. Desire and Action go together. Be sure to implement the plan. Carry out all activities necessary to achieve the goal.
Do not allow anyone to influence you to do otherwise. Be single-minded on the goal. Do not allow any distractions to derail your efforts. You must pursue your goal with ferocious persistence. Never never quit. Do not entertain any thoughts of failure. Mistakes are bound to occur; learn the lessons and move on.
You need a courageous attitude to step outside your comfort zone. Sometimes we have feelings of inadequacy, that we don’t have what it takes to do what we have to do. Some people have stage fright they fear to mount the podium to deliver a speech. It can be frightening if you have to do what you’ve never done before. To take a leap you have to overcome your fears. That is what all achievers do.
To move out of your comfort zone requires preparation. What have you always wanted to do? Is it a speech, writing a book, starting a business? Practice until you become an expert in what you want to do. Get very well trained. You can upgrade your skills by getting someone to mentor you. A mentor is someone who is knowledgeable and very well experienced in your chosen career or field. Accept him as your coach and learn from him. Once you get prepared it becomes a lot easier stepping outside your comfort zone.
In conclusion, your comfort zone can limit what you can accomplish in life. It is a serious barrier to your progress in life. Step outside your comfort zone and achieve the goals that are most important to you. Your comfort zone is a cage and human beings were not made for that. Set goals that resonate with you. Your goal should be your burning desire to achieve. Then plan to reach your goal. Act on the plan to make it happen. Don’t be content living a life of mediocrity. Stretch and strive to attain greater heights in life where you feel fulfilled and happy.
