Assin North Elects New PM

The Assin North Municipal Assembly (ANoMA) has re-elected Mr Patrick Affum-Amponsah, Assembly Member for Dadiesoaba Electoral Area, as its Presiding Member (PM) to steer the affairs of the Assembly for the next two years.

Mr Affum-Amponsah, a 32-year old Professional teacher polled 35 votes out of the total of 48, while his contender, Mr Patrick Ampem Darko garnered 9 with 4 rejected ballots.

The election was conducted and supervised by Mr Kofi Tsibu, Municipal Electoral Officer at Assin Fosu.

Mr Samuel Ntim Junior, a Magistrate at the Assin Fosu Municipal Court swore Mr Affum-Amponsah into office by administering the Oaths of Allegiance, Office and Secrecy to him.

In his acceptance speech, Mr Affum-Amponsah praised God for the honour done him and thanked his colleagues for the confidence reposed in him by giving him the mandate to serve the Municipality.

He also prayed for unity and continued support amongst all members to effectively discharge his duties for the development of the metropolis.

"We need peace and unity among the people and ourselves because without peace the Municipality would not be able to achieve its development goals."

"I am calling upon your support and cooperation to enable me execute the mandate given me. I know you will support me because we need to collaborate and forge ahead with the development of the Municipality," Mr Affum-Amponsah said.

The PM expressed his commitment to rally all forces to speed up the development of the area.
