Africa Internet Group (AIG), the mother company of Jumia has connected its sister companies into Jumia’s ecosystem that allows them to come under a single roof to provide customers a one stop-shop and a world class online shopping services to customers.
The new Jumia version will give access to products and services from its 8 leading platforms to operate under Jumia Ghana.
These platforms includes fashion and electronics with Jumia (Previously Jumia and Kaymu)], local sellers with Jumia Market (Previously Kaymu), hotel booking with Jumia Travel (previously Jovago), food delivery with Jumia Food (Previously Hellofood), classifieds with Jumia Deals (Previously Vendito), Jumia House (Previously Lamudi) and Jumia Car (Previously Carmudi), and lastly logistics services with Jumia Services (Previously AIGX).
Speaking at the Africa Internet Group Annual Conference 2016 in Accra, Joseph Tetteh, on behalf of the Minister of Communications said this joint effort by AIG can be considered a fertile ground for the promotion of e-commerce activities in Ghana.
According to him, Mobile Telephony Penetration as at March 2016 stood at over 130.97percent- a total number of subscribers for Broadband Wireless Access data was 101,851.
He indicated that revenue accrued to the state since the inception of e-commerce portal is 94million Ghana Cedis with over 4000 sites visits, 3000 processed transactions and more than 6000 registered users.
In the fight against cybercrime, Mr. Tetteh added that government will soon set up PKI security architecture to provide an increased level of confidence for online commerce, communication and collaboration over an increasingly insecure internet.
Massimiliano Spalazzi, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Jumia Market Africa, said, with 70 percent repeating customers, Jumia is the leading brand that is addressing 75percent internet problems in Africa.
According to Spalazzi, the key feature of Jumia is the harmonisation of its branding which seeks to give customers simplicity, trust, reliability and safety.
In a related press release, Sacha Poignonnec and Jeremy Hodara, founders and co-CEOs of Jumia said after 4 years of successfully establishing and growing its online services as leaders in their markets, Africa Internet Group, now Jumia, has become the N°1 E-commerce platform in Africa.
