DEAR JOHN ON THE RISE DESPITE CRITCISMS- ASEM

Ghanaian rapper, Asem, finds it unfortunate that some people are criticizing his “Dear John” tribute song and ascribing various erroneous interpretations to the idea behind the making of the song.

Asem says he has been criticized for taking advantage of the death of President Mills to make money and hype himself.

He says some have also assigned partisan political meanings to his song, adding that he hopes Ghanaians will mature pass that level.

He says he is however happy it is gradually becoming the official song for the season.

The “Wo be da ntem” rapper was speaking to Focus FM's Kwame Poku (DJ Scientific) on the Focus citi show.

He says he did the song because at the time of the unfortunate demise of the president, there were no real songs that told his story.

The musician urged Ghanaians to pray for the family of the late president and said that the best tribute Ghanaians can give the late President is to hold a peaceful and honourable election since that is what he stood for.

“In fact, we are saddened by his death and when the news broke, we hoped it would be one of those hoaxes”, he intimated.
