Arresting Ya Na Killers Wont Solve the Problem - Pratt
23.02.2009 LISTEN

The President's Statement in his State of the Nation Address yesterday, February 20, 2009 that he will find Ya Na's killers has been one of the main talking point on radio, television and in the press. On Peace FM's Kokrokoo Show this morning, 20th February, 2009, the resource persons discussed the topic again and the Managing editor for the Insight Newspaper, Mr Kwesi Pratt who was one of the resource persons, expressed his view that, just arresting the killers will not solve the problem but finding the causes of the murder as well as retrieving ammunitions from civilian.

He said, he is not against the President's decision to arrest the killers, but he thinks if they arrest and prosecute them without finding the reason why they killed the Ya Na will not solve the problem, the problem will still remain.

Mr Pratt added that if the Presdient really wants to solve conflicts in the Northern Region, then justice should not be based on which political party one belongs.

According to him, there are situations where one who goes contrary to laws of the land is favoured by the people who are supposed to discipline him, because of the political background of the person.
