Another tantrum from Rawlings GOD IS PUNISHING GHANAIANS.. for failing to appreciate sacrifices made by NDC
13.10.2008 LISTEN

Ex-President Jerry John Rawlings has stated that the economic hardships that Ghanaians find themselves in, is God's punishment for not appreciating the sacrifice made by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to move the economy to an appreciable level.

According to him, when he took over the reigns of this country, everything was in a total mess and by dint of hard work he and his team managed to put the economy on a sound footing, until the New Patriotic Party (NPP) took over.

He disclosed that having tasted the incompetence and ineffectiveness of the NPP government in the last seven years, which has brought untold economic hardships upon them and their loved ones, Ghanaians have now learnt their lessons. Stating that Ghanaians need a humble and God-fearing person like Prof. John Evans Atta Mills, who is selfless and honest, to move the country forward, ex-President Rawlings said Ghanaians now understand that NPP did not come to help them.

Addressing party supporters in three towns in the Ningo-Prampram constituency including Afienya, Prampram and Old-Ningo, last Thursday, Mr. Rawlings disclosed that the NDC would ensure that the forthcoming election becomes peaceful, free and fair so that the NDC could sail through smoothly and win the elections.

He revealed that while the NDC's commitment was to serve the good people of this country, the NPP on the other hand, took power with one mission, which is to amass wealth at the expense of the poor Ghanaian.

He, therefore, called on Ghanaians to come out in their numbers and vote massively for the NDC and Prof. Mills so that they could be redeemed from the economic hardships that they find themselves in.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Ningo-Prampram constituency, Hon. E.T Mensah lamented the poor state within which the NPP government has placed fishermen in the country.

According to him, the NDC, during its tenure of office introduced premix fuel into the country to make fishing less expensive for our local fisherfolks, which was an indication of the fact that they have the interest of the people at heart. He regretted that when the NPP took office, instead of continuing from where they left off, they have instead introduced what is known as pair trawling by big time Chinese vessels and have succeeded in destroying everything in our territorial waters.

Hon. Mensah explained that the activities of these pair trawlers have swept away everything from the sea, including fingerlings, therefore, when fishermen go to sea they hardly catch enough fish.

He said the living conditions of fishermen in the country had deteriorated and pledged that when the NDC regains power they would see to it that the trend was reversed so that our fishermen would once again be happy.

Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo, MP for Kpone-Katamanso constituency, called on religious and traditional leaders in the country to come out and condemn political leaders when they go wrong, instead of pretending that nothing was going wrong.

He disclosed that there have been a number of reports in the media revealing the level of corruption on the part of some NPP ministers, yet religious and traditional leaders in the country cannot come out to condemn such acts, which is unfortunate.

Among the entourage of the ex-President were Gbordzor Abayatei - MP for Sege, Alex Tetteh Enyo - MP for Ada , David Assume – MP for Shai Osudoku, Sherry Ayitey, Deputy National vice President of the NDC and Constituency Executives of the party.
