Students and staff of Adidome Senior High School can now access clean water on campus following the commissioning of a mechanised borehole funded through a partnership between Republic Bank (Ghana) PLC and the Volta Region’s “Water for All” initiative.
The intervention comes after months of distress calls from the school over an acute water shortage. According to the MP, Community Water had disconnected the school over unpaid bills, forcing students to leave campus in search of water.
Speaking at the inauguration, the MP said the situation had disrupted learning and posed health risks to students. He explained that immediate action was taken by engaging Republic Bank to address the crisis through its corporate social responsibility programme.
The newly installed borehole is expected to provide a reliable water supply for the school and reduce the burden on students. It forms part of the “Water for All” initiative, which has so far delivered water to 16 communities, schools, and health facilities across the Volta Region.
The MP also announced that Taviefe Senior High School will be the next beneficiary under the same partnership. He said the project reflects the importance of public-private collaboration in solving basic social needs.
He expressed gratitude to Dr. Benjamin Dzoboku, Managing Director of Republic Bank, for responding swiftly and for the bank’s commitment to construct mechanised boreholes in four regions across Ghana.
Appreciation was also extended to the District Chief Executive, Hon. Dodzi Mornyui, Togbe Kwasinyi Kakaklolo Agyeman, Chief of Adidome, and other dignitaries who supported the project and attended the commissioning ceremony.
The MP urged school authorities to ensure proper maintenance of the facility so it can serve students for many years. He reaffirmed his commitment to improving access to water and other essential services in schools across the constituency.
