We will work with AG to prosecute Adamus Resources, directors after revoking mining leases – Minerals Commission

The Minerals Commission has disclosed that it is working with the Office of the Attorney-General to prosecute Adamus Resources Limited and its directors over alleged breaches of Ghana’s mining laws.

The move follows the government’s decision, through the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, to revoke the company’s mining leases covering the Akango, Salman and Nkroful concessions. Authorities say investigations uncovered illegal mining activities, regulatory violations and environmental infractions linked to the company’s operations.

Addressing a press conference on Monday, April 27, Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Minerals Commission, Isaac Andrews Tandoh, stressed that the revocation does not absolve the company of potential criminal liability.

“This revocation is without prejudice to criminal charges against Adamus Resources and its directors under the Act 995. The Commission will work with the AG to prosecute these perpetrators,” he stated.

He reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to enforcing mining regulations and ensuring accountability across the sector.

Meanwhile, security has been heightened at the affected concessions, with military personnel deployed to secure the sites and restrict access as enforcement actions take effect.

However, Adamus Resources Limited has rejected the revocation of its licences, arguing that the decision was made without due process and based on claims it insists do not accurately represent its operations.
