A major fire has engulfed a rubber factory at Circle Odawna in Accra, triggering panic among residents, traders, and motorists in the area.
The Ghana National Fire Service dispatched four fire tenders to the scene to battle the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby properties.
However, firefighting efforts were slowed after some of the fire tenders encountered difficulties accessing the scene due to severe flooding around the Circle Odawna area. The floodwaters hampered the movement of emergency vehicles, delaying the response to the fire.
Firefighters are currently working to bring the blaze under control, while the cause of the fire remains unknown.
There has been no official confirmation of casualties or the extent of damage caused by the incident.
Authorities have advised motorists and pedestrians to avoid the Odawna stretch to allow emergency personnel to carry out their operations safely and without obstruction.
