The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has issued a weather forecast for today, Monday, May 26, 2025, indicating mostly clear conditions across much of the country, though some areas may experience mist, fog patches, and isolated thunderstorms.
According to the 24-hour outlook, the morning is expected to begin with partly cloudy skies in many regions. Mist and fog are likely to form over coastal, forest, and mountainous areas—potentially affecting visibility and road travel in cities such as Takoradi, Axim, Ho, and Koforidua.
As the day progresses, the forecast anticipates intervals of sunshine mixed with occasional cloud cover across the country.
However, residents in areas slightly north of the coast, as well as parts of the middle and northern belts, should be prepared for possible isolated rain or thunderstorms.
Specifically, towns including Koforidua, Akim Oda, Tarkwa, Goaso, Sunyani, Yendi, Tamale, Damongo, Bolgatanga, and Wa have been identified as likely to experience afternoon or evening thunderstorms, with probabilities ranging between 30% and 60%.
In the northern sector, temperatures are expected to soar, with Damongo and Bole projected to reach highs of 36°C. Bolgatanga and Nalerigu may experience even higher temperatures, peaking at 38°C, followed by potential thunderstorms later in the day.
In the southern cities of Accra, Cape Coast, and Kumasi, a mix of sunshine and clouds is forecasted. Afternoon temperatures are expected to range between 31°C and 33°C, gradually cooling by evening.
GMet has urged the public—especially commuters and farmers—to stay informed through official weather updates and to take necessary precautions in areas likely to experience rain or thunderstorms.
