TUE, 16 APR 2024

Members of the New Patriotic Party in the Ayawaso North Constituency in the Greater Accra Region have called on the National Executives of the party to investigate their parliamentary candidate, Ibrahim Sannie and give appropriate sanctions that he deserves over allegations of him using the name of Vice President, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia to perpetuate his alleged fraudulent activities.

According to the members, the issue is not only affecting the fortunes of the party in the Constituency but that of the flag bearer Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia's chances of gaining more votes in the Zongo communities.

They expressed worry over how the Constituency, Regional and National executives are quiet over the issue and have refused to take disciplinary action against Ibrahim Sannie and clear the name of Dr. Bawumia who is known to be of good behavior and a man of integrity.

They stated that the candidate cannot accused and point a finger at his opponent for orchestrating falsehood against him because a number of party activists have been victims and it is a known fact that he is involved in visa business.

They revealed that the alleged visa fraud issue has gained grounds and it is affecting the campaign as members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) are using it to campaign against the humble and competent Dr. Bawumia with claims that he is indirectly involved in the visa fraud, a claim they described as childish politics with no evidence.

They have therefore called on the top hierarchy of the party to as a matter of urgency launch Investigations into the matter for further action.

They called on all NPP sympathizers to remain calm and believe in the party executives as proper means will be used to deal with the issue for the sake of victory in 2024.

Ibrahim Sannie, the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Ayawaso North constituency is being accused by a group within the Zongo Community for allegedly defrauding about 200 persons under the guise of securing them US visas with the help of Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

The MP hopeful is alleged to have defrauded some desperate Zongo youth in the constituency who wanted to travel abroad.

Some of the victims, who have allegedly been defrauded of $10,600 are Nabia Mohammed Asraf and Nurudeen Bashiru.
