Aggrieved chiefs of twelve communities in the Twifo Atti-Morkwa district in the Central region who are furious about the illegal mining activities in the district have jointly invoked the wrath of the gods to deal ruthlessly with the NDC chairman for the Upper Denkyera East constituency, Mr. Swanzy Arhin and any government official in the Twifo Atti-Morkwa district who have a hand in the devastating galamsey activities.

According to the spokesperson of these upset anti-galamsey chiefs, Nana Kwame Baduo Ababio who is also the Twifo Werempimhene, the Upper Denkyera constituency chairman for NDC Mr. Swanzy Arhin recently led a mining company called BENVICO Ltd to the chiefs of Twifo Wamaso and 11 other communities with prospecting license signed by Hon Samuel Abu Jinapor, Minister of Lands and Natural Resources.

The spokesperson said before the chiefs and the people could give them the chance to go ahead, Mr. Swanzy Arhin, the NDC chairman and his BENVICO company allegedly destroyed about 50 acres of cultivated farmlands owned by over 500 farmers for galamsey. They have also destroyed the only major river in the area, Bunu which serves as the only source of drinking water to the about 20,000 residents in the twelve communities.

The communities affected are Twifo Mintaso, Kotokye, Ayaase, Bimponagya, Mampong and Mokwaa.

The situation they reiterated has taken their livelihoods away as all their farms and water sources have been destroyed by the illegal mining activities.

Describing the act as evil and inhuman, they poured libations amidst curses on the chairman of the opposition NDC and his followers who are directly involved in the bizarre act.

They also expressed their readiness to vote against the NDC in the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections for the alleged crimes committed against them.

"We don't have anyone to save us from this bondage though we are Ghanaians, and having no alternative we are leaving our plights to the gods of the land to deal with our enemies," the residents told the media.
