Kennedy Osei Nyarko, the Member of Parliament for Akim Swedru under the New Patriotic Party (NPP), stresses the importance of honoring Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia's digitization initiative, especially in light of recent internet disruptions in Ghana and other African nations.

In a Facebook post, Osei Nyarko underscores the significance of embracing digitalization by highlighting the adverse effects of internet blackouts on businesses and institutions. He emphasizes that the shift to digital platforms is crucial for economic progress, as traditional analog systems have become obsolete.

Osei Nyarko asserts that digitalization is a potent tool for combating corruption, citing research showing its effectiveness in minimizing corrupt practices. He advocates for the adoption of online government services to eliminate human involvement in processes, thereby reducing corruption significantly.

The post comes amidst internet disruptions caused by the damage to key underwater cables affecting several African countries, including Ghana. Engineers are working to address the issues, but resolution may take four to five weeks.

Vice President Bawumia's commitment to digitalization is highlighted, as he has championed efforts to formalize various economic sectors through technology. His vision includes leveraging digitization to create employment opportunities, enhance administrative efficiency in acquiring essential documents like passports and driver's licenses, and improve access to healthcare for Ghanaians.

Osei Nyarko's message underscores the urgency of embracing digitalization in Ghana and beyond, especially in the face of challenges posed by internet disruptions. He echoes Vice President Bawumia's call to harness technology for sustainable development and economic growth.
