The President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Mr. Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, headed a delegation on Tuesday to pay respect to the bereaved family of the late Kwabena Kwakye, a show host at Oman FM.

During the visit to the residence of the deceased, Mr. Dwumfour offered heartfelt condolences to the grieving family, particularly expressing sympathy to the widow and children. He assured them of unwavering support from the Association during the upcoming one-week celebration scheduled for March 9, 2024, and the subsequent main funeral.

"On behalf of the GJA, I extend our deepest condolences to you, the family, especially the widow and the children. We understand how challenging this time is for you, but we believe that God knows best," Mr. Dwumfour conveyed in his remarks.

Describing the late Kwabena Kwakye as a stalwart in the media landscape, Mr. Dwumfour highlighted his significant contributions to the advancement of democracy. He praised Kwakye's dedication to truthful political analysis, emphasizing his unwavering commitment to honesty.

"Kwabena was not just a colleague; he was a beacon of truth. He always stood for what he believed in," the GJA President recalled fondly. "Whether he agreed with a decision or not, he never hesitated to express his views. That's the kind of integrity we admired in him."

In response, the family expressed gratitude to the GJA President and his delegation for their gesture of solidarity during their time of mourning.

Prior to visiting the family, the GJA delegation also paid respects at Oman FM, the workplace of the deceased, to offer condolences to management and staff.

At Oman FM, Mr. Dwumfour reiterated the immense loss suffered by the media fraternity due to the passing of their colleague. He reaffirmed the GJA's commitment to actively participating in the commemoration events and funeral arrangements.

Furthermore, Mr. Dwumfour took the opportunity to remind journalists about the importance of prioritizing their health, urging them to undergo regular check-ups to prevent health-related tragedies.

Accompanying Mr. Dwumfour were Vice President Madam Linda Asante Adjei, Public Affairs Officer Ms. Rebecca Ekpe, and Executive Secretary Efo Mawugbe Petit.
