The Member of Parliament for Pru East, Dr. Kwabena Donkor is appealing to government to provide more relief items to residents affected by flooding due to the Akosombo Dam spillage.

Nine communities in several districts, including Asuogyaman, Pru East, and Bole Bamboi, have been submerged as a result of the Volta Lake overflowing its banks.

This has led to the displacement of over 2,000 residents and significant damage to farmlands and properiesy in the affected areas.

Dr. Kwabena Donkor expressed his concerns during an interview with Citi News monitored by ModernGhana News, emphasizing the urgent need for government intervention to assist the affected communities.

"The type of support they have received is communal, and aside from that, we have received very little from the Ghanaian state.

“This creates the impression that we seem not to matter because NADMO has a presence in the other districts. So it cannot be that the officialdom is not aware of our situation," Dr. Donkor stated.

He further highlighted the immediate needs of the affected communities, which include increased public health awareness, the provision of temporary school structures, and the distribution of food to assist the displaced residents.
